Scarecrows and Football...Fall Must be Here

Despite the cold Ruby still had smiles to share for the scarecrows :)
Who:  Mike, Kim, Ruby, the De Jong sisters and Grandma De Jong
What:  Scarecrow Festival
When:  Last weekend, Sept. 18-19
Where:  Akron, South Dakota
Why:  To enjoy the festivities, get a few fun things, and spend time with family.  It was beyond cold, but we put on more clothes and toughed it out.  We saw some cute scarecrows, bought adorable hairbows for 50 cents (got to love small towns), some tasty treats, and an adorable decorative plate I can't wait to put up!

After the festival we went out for lunch and then stayed at my brother-in-law and sister's house with their three kids and enjoyed hanging out together which doesn't always seem to happen.   Then all sisters and their families joined up for supper that night.  (The pic below is missing one, she snuck out of the pic below due to crabby pants issues...go figure :)

Once again we tried for a grandchild shot...failed.  Like Spiderman in the middle though?
We saw this for 3 hours on the way home.  Scarecrows must tucker her out!

Ruby put in a few road miles to give Mike a break on the long haul to Michigan.  Doesn't she look like a pro?
Who:  Mike, Kim, Ruby, Poll Siblings and their kiddos, and Grandpa and Grandma Poll
What:  Michigan football game
When:  This weekend, Sept. 25-26
Where:  Ann Arbor, Michigan
Why:  To catch a great game and spend time with family.  Most went to the game while my sister-in-law, Kristin, and I stayed back with our kiddos. The game went well though.  Last year it sleeted the entire time so they were much happier with the mid-60 degree weather.  And Michigan won!!!  Go Blue!

After the game we all met up for supper and some relaxing time at the hotel before we parted ways once more.  Sunday morning rolled around and off we went back to Des Moines.  And I apologize for no game pics...Mike didn't take the camera :)

We saw this for 2 hours on the way home.  Cousins must tucker her out too!
Luckily though we get to see both families again on October 16 for the ALS Walk here in Des Moines.  We are so excited!
