The walk is 3 miles surrounding the Princpal Park area here in Des Moines, Registration starts at 8:30 if not done prior and the walk starts at 10 am.
Like last year we plan to have a tailgate after the walk and enjoy pork tenderloin sandwiches, burgers, brats and all the fixings. Weather permitting we will have lawn games as well so bring your lawn chairs, appetite and walking shoes! There will also be plenty of activities going on for children and adults alike before and after the walk. Once you sign up the ALS Chapter will send you more information and e-mail updates.
Many people ask about fundraising. Yes! We would love for you to raise money because it goes to the ALS Chapter and provides resources and research for Mike and other ALS patients. The amount you raise doesn't matter though. You can get creative with it instead of only asking people for a donation. Quite a few family members and friends have been busy in their kitchens, including me, preparing salsa, cinnamon rolls, frozen cookie dough balls, and pig-in-the-blankets to raise money for the walk. You too could do something as simple as that or offer your services for a donation, babysit, have a garage sale, or a bake sale. Make it fun!
We hope to have everyone signed up soon for the walk so we can get numbers for tailgating food and t-shirts for new team members. There are quite a few new additions since last year!
