Walk...Because You Can!
Yes in deed we did! Our team, Mike: Mission Possible, had an amazing day and an amazing turnout from family and friends. Nearly 100 people made up our team and the majority were there to walk. Team members hailed from all over Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Utah and South Dakota. I'd say we were well represented!
The day started out gorgeous and stayed that way for us. No snow and wind this year :) Some of us even worked up a sweat!
The day started with meeting up with family and friends. Then Mike, Ruby and I did a brief video interview as a portion of the HyVee thank you. (HyVee was the corporate sponsor). Tough questions were asked, but we held it together and shared a little piece of our hearts.
Then we were called upstage to represent our team and cheer on our fans for the "Best T-shirt" contest. And yep! It's true...we have many loud mouths on our team :) They cheered us on for the win.
Shortly after, the walk started and we made our way down the 3 mile trek. We were blessed with beautiful weather and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Despite the lack of spot-a-pots (haha) we managed to make it back and grab a bite to eat at our tailgate thanks to a college buddy. Thanks Cody! It was delicous...yum! It was also a great time to talk with our friends and family. That's how we ended the walk day and couldn't have asked for a better day!
Mike and I say it all the time, but we truly are blessed. Standing amongst a sea of blue and yellow shirts reminded us yet again of all the people who are there for us. Never could we face the daily struggles that ALS has and will continue to present us with on a daily basis. Our God has been good to us and will continue to meet our needs; Mike's, Ruby's and I's.
Thank you to all of our family and friends for supporting us in your presence and your hard work to help raise money to find a cure for ALS. It's when, not if. We hope you have that mind set too. We hope to see you all there again next year and even some new faces.
