Whew...summer is here in full blast!

Summer is here and we are loving it!  The first couple days were spent doing things around the house and yard that had kept getting pushed back.  Gutters are now clean, the lawn has been mowed up to Mike's standards, weeds have been picked, hostas have been moved, Max is almost accustomed to living with us, and Ruby's pool finally got put up!


Ruby had no idea what was coming, but once it was here she loved it!  Her pool, which was one of her Christmas presents, finally emerged from underneath the bed and was blown up.  I didn't know I was so full of hot air! Thank goodness it only has to be blown up once this summer...hopefully.  Ruby loved the pool and stayed in for the most part.  A few times she ventured out to her chair and then made her way back in.  Hence wearing her sandals into the pool.

Ruby and I also took a bike ride down to the cometary pond to visit the ducks.  They were so friendly!  Ruby was quite surprised by them at first and their curiosity of her.  After sitting in my lap for awhile she got the courage to hold a piece of hot dog bun and try to lure them her way.

She's not trying to eat the bun like you may all think.  She's actually "talking" to the ducks and geese.

A few were courageous enough to approach Ruby despite her tactics.  Notice how many birds there are?

 And to wrap up the day we took Max for a long walk, ate supper and noticed yet, one more surprise.  Ruby is quite the little artist.  It's almost not visible on the picture below, but Ruby left her mark with her sidewalk chalk all over the back hallway wall.  Thank goodness it was only sidewalk chalk.  Nothing a Clorox wipe couldn't handle.  Guess we better put the markers and crayons under lock and key for awhile :)
