2 years and Growing

So much since her birthday and so little time to get it on a blog :)  Along with Ruby's 2nd birthday came many visitors including Grandpa and Grandma De Jong.  Grandpa is well known for his "funny farm"  and low and behold, some of those funny creatures somehow passed through Des Moines on their way home to Northwest Iowa.  Ruby got a sneak peek at the Easter Bunny :)  She found the bunnies to be rather intimidating, but if she showed baby the bunnies, then it was all good and dandy.

Go Blue can be faintly heard from our living room on game nights while Ruby runs around waving Mike's Michigan flags.  Trust me, we have one happy camper due to this and his name is Mike.

This past weekend we had the privilege of having Uncle Mitch, Aunt Kristin, Brady and Lily!  We loved having them come to visit us all the way from Michigan.  It's quite a challenge some days with little ones on board, but I hope they still thought it was worth it.  We got to hang out with them at the hotel and go swimming in the poo (according to Ruby), check out Jordan Creek Mall, hit up a few shopping places, try out a new recipe from Pinterest,  Cake Batter Puppy Chow ,(if you make ask for a few tips...super yummy but recipe is a little bit backwards), go for a walk and hit up the park.  It was beautiful on Saturday so we made our way outdoors and trust me, the kiddos loved it to death.

Here's Kristin and her cutie Brady getting ready to barrel down the slide.

Ruby making quite the face before making her trek down. With baby of course :)

Mom and Ruby hitting up the slides too.

As much fun as the kids had I think Mike and Mitch enjoyed the time at the park just about as much.

Clogging up the slide.  I think that may have been thanks to Ruby having no patience for them to make it all the way to the bottom before heading down.  Must take after her father's patience!

It was a great weekend with them, and we hope to catch a weekend with them again this summer once all that free time rolls around that comes along with being a teacher ;)  Speaking of teacher, I must move onto my lesson plans for the week as we head into parent teacher conferences.  Conferences make for a long week with a much anticipated Spring Break ahead.  I shall report back for the Poll's once our Spring Break adventures come to an end.
