On such a great day as Easter, we were ecstatic to spend it together as a family. We made the executive decision to stay home and not travel for Easter. This was a first in four years, and it seemed it a little odd not be on the road and spending time with immediate family.
Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend were pretty average, but Sunday rolled around and Easter was here. Saturday night at supper I tried to explain to Ruby the story of Easter :) Easier said than done in the eyes of a two year old. We told her that at night when we pray to Jesus, he really was a person like Mommy and Daddy. Jesus died and everyone was really sad. But on Sunday morning he arose from the dead and went to go visit God. He did all of that for us! So tomorrow (Sunday) we are going to go to church to celebrate with everyone and have a party! Very biblically based right? Well, Sunday morning I asked Ruby where we were going and she said, "Chur". Then I asked for what. "I don't know" with a shoulder shrug. Baby steps folks...next year perhaps it will sink in a little more.
After a great service with a filled sanctuary we headed home for Easter dinner, Ruby's Easter basket
and eventually an Easter egg hunt after nap time. Mike requested his
spiral honey ham and cheesy potatoes so we still pulled off a meal
somewhat like our mom's would have cooked. Then came the Easter basket.
Ruby shrieked with delight when Mike wheeled in with her basket accompanied with a new basketball (courtesy of Mike). Her new DVD, Cat in the Hat, even got watched Sunday night before bed, and she loved it! After a great 2 1/2 hour nap, it was time for the Easter egg hunt!

Once the Easter egg hunt was done Ruby ate far too many Tootsie Rolls and Smarties, so we diverted all attention to a walk. It was beautiful outside and we couldn't have asked for a better day. And with the good weather brought more attempted photos. Have to capture the memories :)
