What a beautiful day at Principal Park it was! 80's, slight breeze and sitting in the shade behind home plate. Today was MDA/ALS Awareness day at the park and we were invited to join the MDA crew for a great game of ball. Mike, Ruby and I loved it and Ruby just couldn't get enough of Cubby bear...from a distance :)
On behalf of Mike and his love for the groundscrew, he had shirts made up for the guys to wear for todays game and again in June when the ALS day at the ball park rolls around. The guys all rolled out after the fourth inning in their Strike Out ALS shirts to do the drag. It was a proud and humble moment to see the I-Cubs Groundscrew, who Mike used to be a part of, wearing the shirts in honor of him.

We also had the honor of watching a family very similar to ours, Miner's, take a spot on the field for the first pitch of the game. Keith and his little guy Cole, 2 years, threw the first pitch in honor of the ALS Asscoation. Keith, just like Mike, was diagnosed with ALS at a very young age and has made his stand against ALS through a great organization Racers Against ALS. Overall, it was just nice to be back at the field and catch a few minutes after the drag with the I-Cubs groundscrew. The MDA/ALS day at the ball park was enjoyed by all and we hope that a few people noticed and took the time to realize what ALS actually is and how it can happen to anyone.
