It's been quite some time since we have been in touch! Time flies with school and life, but it is high time I get you up to speed.
Early October we made our way to NW Iowa to join in the celebration of my younger brother Jon and Karis' wedding! Ruby got to be a flower girl along with her two cousins. The day of the wedding was quite chilly, but everyone was a trooper and took in the beautiful fall surroundings of the outdoor wedding.
Ruby has found a new napping spot...the basement. I must mention that we do not have a finished basement, and it's the coldest spot in the house, but she seems to enjoy it :)
Along with fall comes Jack-O-Lanterns! Not so much at the Poll house. We opted for foam stickers and made fun Halloween creatures. Ruby's favorite is the kitty pumpkin. We'll see how long they last, but as of now everyday after school I am reminded by Ruby that the kitty is her favorite as she gives it a hug.
Ruby is a girl to my heart. She has taken on cooking and baking with me with ease. Quite frankly, she is usually the one telling me she can do it by herself and tries to chase me out of the kitchen. Here she is stirring caramel for our caramel rice krispie bars. No, the burner is not currently on, but yes it was a HOT pan and Ruby does very well with following proper kitchen safety protocol.
Ruby had a date as well since we spoke last. A little earlier than Daddy would like, but it was well supervised. Tristen and Ruby had a great time together while his Daddy and Mommy had the chance to enjoy supper with a few less distractions.
Halloween was a success in Ruby's world. She got to go to Trunk or Treat at Saydel High School and trick-or-treating on Beggar's night (I know, odd. Who ever stuck with the name Beggar's Night). Either way, our little Indian in her tutu was darn cute! Beggar's Night she met up with some good friends of hers from daycare and they took off from house to house. She had her "drik-r-dreet" down pat by the end of the evening as well as her "a-ya-ya-ya" for added effects to her Indian costume :)
| Aunt Missy even stopped to trick-or-treat at our house. Or at least give Ruby candy...hence the huge pkg. of Starbursts. |
A few weekends were spent raking up leaves and Ruby was sure to help. Anyone looking for a "great" leaf raking helper? If so, I've got the perfect one.
May we get back in touch before the snow flies! Perhaps Thanksgiving break here in a few weeks. It will be a busy one with myself and sister-in-law tackling Thanksgiving here in Des Moines, Black Friday shopping (YAHHHH!!!!!!), a bridal shower for Mike's sister, Missy, and family of all sorts.
